OpenDesign principles
OpenDesign principle:
Any design released under an OpenDesign licence is free to use, distribute and modify for personal or non-profit means.
However, the following limitations apply:
- The original designer must be acknowledged.
- The original designer must be notified if possible.
- The original designer is not liable for any injury or claim arising from the use of the design, in its original or modified form.
- The design may be used for commercial gain only with agreement and permission of the original designer.
- The original designer may choose to apply a percentage tariff for commercial use of the design.
The above principles are intended to encourage private design and development of spacecraft parts, and to enable commercial interests to experiment with those designs without incurring cost.
Should a design subsequently be used as part of a profitable venture, then an opportunity exists for the original designer to benefit from his work.
I trust that those using this site as a resource for design will honour the above understanding.
Thank you.
