It is with great anticipation that I hear of NASA's plan to return to the moon, with the intention of establishing a base.
Too many years has Luna been within our reach, but just beyond our grasp.
Though not an ideal habitat, the moon represents a stepping stone towards the planets, with Mars as an achievable next step.
I hope that my suggestions for a network of simple, reliable, and identical satellites placed in orbit around Luna, and later around Mars, to enable full and reliable data and voice communication at all times, and to provide a network of listening stations for my proposed interplanetary distress beacon (IDB), and associated dedicated Distress Band are put in place before the first mission is undertaken.
Though you will find information on this site regarding the details of Scaled's 'Tier one' program, this site is not intended as yet another 'News' site - there are already many to chose from (follow the links). Instead, the site provides a 'resource' for those interested in the practicalities of Spacecraft, both manned and unmanned, and discusses possible ways to live permenantly beyond the Karman Line.
